Proceedings of the Iola Village Board of Trustees, Monday, December 11, 2017, 6:00 p.m.


     President Edler called the regular monthly meeting of the Iola Village Board of Trustees to order at 6:00 p.m. at the community center. President Edler made the open meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Board are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so the citizenry may be made aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting. Board members present; President Edler, Trustees Harper, Parks, Fenn, Briquelet and Rasmussen. Trustee Murphy was excused. Others present; clerk Johnson, attorney Meagher, officer Curt Field, Lyle Mork and Holly Neuman. President Edler led the Board in the pledge of allegiance.

     Moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, to approve minutes of the last regular meeting of November 13 as written, motion carried.

     Moved by Pamela Parks, seconded by Missy Fenn, for the board to accept the police monthly statistical report as prepared by Chief Prahl, motion carried.

     Lyle Mork gave a presentation to the Village Board on behalf of the Iola Historical Society. On June 9, 2018 the Society is hosting a formal dedication of a significant collection of Native American Artifacts which are basically all from Waupaca County. There are more than 1,200 items in the collection which has a significant value.

     Lyle asked for a sponsorship from the Village in the amount of $500.00 to help promote and pay for the event. Following the presentation it was moved by Dave Harper and seconded by Pamela Parks to make a $500.00 sponsorship donation. That motion was passed unanimously.

     Moved by Jim Rasmussen, seconded by David Harper, for the board to approve application for operators license by Justice Johnson (Northern Light Bar & Grill), pending police check, motion carried.

   The monthly bills were presented to the finance committee for approval. The finance committee examined the bills and recommended that they be allowed. Moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, that the recommendation of the finance committee be adopted and an order drawn on the treasury for the various amounts, motion carried.

     Moved by Kathy Briquelet, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, for the board to set the 2018 caucus date for Monday, January 8, 2018 at 5:45 p.m. at the community center prior to the next regular meeting, motion carried. Notice of this is to be published in the Waupaca County Post.

     Moved by Pamela Parks, seconded by David Harper, for the board to adopt resolution #17-08 (copy attached) 2018 polling place location and poll worker list, motion carried.

     The chamber/liaison report as prepared by Tammie Jo Berg was distributed. The Village/School Taylor Field contract will be acted on by the school board at their meeting tonight.   The personnel committee will meet at a future date to discuss a proposed sexual harassment policy. Pamela Parks resigned as head of the River Road Community Garrden and will be replaced by Sandi Schuettpelz. A general discussion regarding several matters followed without any action being taken.
